Safety Codes Officer - Electrical (Competition #25-21)


Job Description:

Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Safety Codes Officer - Electrical position in the Planning & Development Services department. Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety Codes Services, the Safety Codes Officer - Electrical conducts preliminary electrical plan and document review of electrical installations and systems prior to permit approval if required; and inspecting electrical systems for compliance with the appropriate codes and standards. The Safety Codes Officer - Electrical additionally acts as the liaison to industry, the public, and staff.

Requirements:

  • Electrician Journeyperson Certificate.
  • Certified Electrical Safety Codes Officer - Group A by the Alberta Safety Codes Council.
  • A minimum of two to four years of demonstrated experience with ability to write technical reports, issue orders, refusals, and variances in accordance with the Alberta Safety Codes Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills using terminology that can be understood by applicants based on their level of industry knowledge.
  • Ability to be professional, self-motivated, and can work independently in a team environment, with excellent coordination, work scheduling, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, copiers, and scanners, with strong competencies in Microsoft Office and other related Safety Codes Programs.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

  • A starting annual salary of $99,500 to $107,600, with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $125,900, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
