Special Events Program Planner


Job Title: Special Events Program Planner Contract Term: 8-week term, starting May 16, 2025 Hours of Work: 35 hours per week Position Type: Canada Summer Jobs contract

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • The candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
  • The candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as an on-site liaison for contracted performers on their performance dates
  • Completing set-up and tear-down work
  • Assisting with volunteer supervision
  • Liaising with other internal departments
  • Ensuring Marketing has the correct information regarding all events

Required Qualifications:

  • Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria
  • Enrolment in or completion of post-secondary education in Event Management, Volunteer Management, Communications, Marketing or another related field
  • Prior experience in customer service, communications, event coordination or tourism is preferred
  • Prior experience with an online volunteer management system, as well as scheduling or supervising volunteers, is an asset
  • Prior customer service experience is an asset
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proactive, solution-focused, able to take ownership and accountability to ensure task completion
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness in handling confidential organizational information
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting
  • All successful candidates over the age of 18 will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment
