Health & Safety Specialist

The Opportunity:

• Responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of OHS programs
• Ensure legislative and Plant compliance with occupational health and safety
• Assist in developing safe work procedures, training, and risk assessment
• Goal to standardize safe work methods for a world-class health and safety program
• Involved in all Health & Safety activities related to the Heritage Plant

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

• Develops Safe Work Procedures
• Enforces Golden Rules and other site programs through team meetings
• Maintains OHS metrics and documentation
• Designs and delivers training programs
• Assists in reducing Health and Safety risks
• Supports Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews
• Reviews and monitors on-site Contractor OHS programs
• Responds to and supports accident response
• Supports emergency management activities
• Maintains content and data analysis of supporting software
• Supports and influences multiple levels of management

What You’ll Bring:

• 3-5 years of experience in progressively responsible H&S roles
• Experience supporting a large client group is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of compliance and regulatory training
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software
• Experience working with regulatory bodies
• Knowledge in WSIB claims management is considered an asset
