Survey Crew Chief (Pipeline Integrity)

Job Description:

  • The position entails working as a Survey Crew Chief in Ontario.
  • Leading field crews in inspections, assessments, and data collection related to asset integrity.
  • Coordinating field survey work with Project Managers, managing project budgets, schedules, and survey methodology.
  • Conducting integrity inspections on pipelines, structures, or other assets.
  • Interacting with client field representatives and landowners while representing GeoVerra.
  • Preparing field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspection findings and field activities.
  • Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
  • Contributing to the development of industry best practices and innovative technology use.
  • Supporting the GeoVerra safety program and completing technical survey tasks.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in surveying or geomatics, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment, laser scanning, and line locating is an asset.
  • Understanding of integrity management practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate survey staff in a team setting.
  • Aptitude for completing projects on time and budget.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and passing drug/alcohol screening.

Job Conditions:

  • Out-of-town work, including shift work, and frequent travel are required.
  • Ability to carry, lift, and push up to 50lbs regularly.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
