Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief


Job Description

  • What the position entails: GeoVerra is looking for a Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief in Ontario to work on projects in and around the region. The successful candidate should be organized, highly collaborative, have strong communication skills, and operate equipment and field tools efficiently.
  • What you will do:
    • Lead and oversee field crews in performing inspections, assessments, and data collection related to asset integrity.
    • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review project budgets, schedules, and survey methodology.
    • Conduct integrity inspections on pipelines, structures or other assets as required.
    • Liaise with client field representatives, landowners, and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
    • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection findings and field activities.
    • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes, and the use of new technology.
    • Participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
    • Complete office technical survey tasks and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of survey equipment and software like GPS and Total Stations.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment, laser scanning, and line locating is an asset.
  • Knowledge of integrity management practices, inspection techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and motivate survey staff, work well in a team, and deliver projects on time and budget.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and pass drug/alcohol screening.

Job Conditions

  • Out-of-town work and frequent travel required.
  • Ability to carry, lift, and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
