Receiving Manager


Job Description

  • Manage the Receiving and Infeed department of our packing facility which includes receiving harvested fruit, transferring fruit to the packing line, and dispatching harvest equipment to our farms.
  • Oversee department operations according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Work with the Packing Plant Manager and other plant management team members to meet all requirements of the production schedule.
  • Coordinate delivery of fruit and dispatch of picking equipment with farm managers and transport providers.
  • Maintain inventory records of fruit received and harvest equipment dispatched.
  • Supervise a team of 25 department staff, managing staff work shifts and task assignments.
  • Ensure the team's work is carried out safely and efficiently, following all applicable company, work safe, and food safe requirements.
  • Ensure all department equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with company procedures, maintenance, and legal requirements.
  • Perform tasks such as start-up, shutdown, maintenance checks, and troubleshoot and resolve specific equipment problems.
  • Establish high standards for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of work.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous staff supervision experience.
  • Good command of English and effective communication skills with co-workers and management.
  • Good communication, planning, and organization skills.
  • Flexible team player, able to work well in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Able to work for extended periods in a focused, safe, and professional manner and work all shifts as required.
  • Meet all physical requirements demanded by the job.
  • Previous experience with fruit packing line equipment or operating a forklift is an asset.

Benefits

  • The role is a seasonal position during the cherry harvest season from July to September.
  • The facility operates for extended hours up to 16 hours/day and 7 days a week, providing ample work hours.
  • Work shifts can vary from 8-12 hours depending on the harvesting schedule, offering flexibility.
  • Remuneration starts at $25.00 per hour and may increase based on experience.
