Laboratory Technician Intern

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Laboratory Technician Intern for our Milling division based in Hamilton, ON. This position term is from May 2025 – August 2025. This internship is a paid position.

• Currently enrolled in a Food Science, chemistry, or related field program.
• Good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory instruments as well as physical and chemical testing and analysis.
• Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Conduct wheat and flour testing and analysis, ensuring raw material and finished goods quality and food safety are within the predetermined product specifications.
• Complete and issue customers’ documents such as Certificate of Analysis, Product Specifications and other inquiries.
• Assist in the maintenance of Quality program and manual which includes but not limited to periodic review and inspections, updating documents, filing and organizing, corrective and preventive action reporting.
• Maintain documents and records in accordance with P&H policies and procedures.
• Report and communicate with Department Supervisors/Managers on matters regarding the results of quality testing and analysis.
• Participate in Food Safety programs, including maintenance of the Supplier Approval program.
• Participate and assist with traceability, mock recalls exercise, audits, customer complaints and inquiries.
• Support and participate in third party, customer and regulatory audits.
